Position OverviewJoin the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit Assystem offers a remarkable opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our growing Fusion and Modular Nuclear (FMN) division. As pioneers in technology design and development, you will engage in innovative projects aimed at realizing net-zero power generation.
Your Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Oversee assigned project tasks, coordinating with a dynamic team of engineers and project management.
- Engineering Innovation: Create high-quality engineering solutions across various topics and activities.
- Effective Communication: Provide insights on technical development and project execution to the Lead Engineer and Project Manager.
- Team Guidance: Lead small teams of engineers in executing critical project tasks.
- Mentorship: Offer technical support and mentorship to team members, particularly junior engineers.
- Time Management: Skillfully manage your time to meet deadlines, budget targets, and quality standards with minimal oversight.

- Education: A minimum of a 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); a Master's degree is advantageous.
- Experience: Demonstrated engineering experience in highly regulated sectors.
- Familiarity with Standards: Knowledge of design codes such as Eurocode 3, ASME III, ASME VIII, RCC-M, and DNV codes.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia CAD software (training provided).
- Analytical Skills: Familiarity with FEA and preferably experience with ANSYS Workbench.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Strong mathematical background with experience in MathCAD preferred.
- Design Process Understanding: Appreciation for the mechanical design cycle from concept to production.
- Hands-On Experience: Responsible for generating mechanical and structural engineering calculations, FEA, CAD, and drawings.
Additional Information:
- Security Clearance: BPSS and SC required.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel to Assystem offices and client sites within the UK.
