Position Summary
As part of Zayo's Solution Architecture Organization, the Technical Solutions Engineer role presents an exciting opportunity for individuals eager to embark on a technical career within the telecommunications sector. Collaborating closely with the Solution Architecture team, each Technical Solutions Engineer will be supported in developing their technical expertise through comprehensive mentorship and practical experience. Key responsibilities include assisting the sales team in achieving revenue targets by crafting straightforward solutions, ensuring quotes are delivered to customers within a 5-day internal service level agreement. Additional responsibilities involve creating Google KMZ requests for both new and existing services, handling general administrative tasks, and providing support to senior staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Assistance
- Support the Solution Architecture Organization in driving sales through operational assistance.
- Leverage GIS-based systems, prior solution designs, Zayo product knowledge, and specific customer requirements to fulfill requests.
- Contribute to the preparation of proposal responses and cost-effective solution designs.
- Solution Development
- Design and document solutions that align with specific customer needs, adhering to Zayo's standard product offerings.
- Assist Solution Engineers in crafting solutions that support current and future customer business applications.
- Stay informed about industry trends and technological advancements while mastering required network engineering materials.
- Planning and Coordination
- Manage personal time effectively in alignment with business priorities.
- Provide regular updates and maintain communication with internal teams (sales, engineering, technical operations, commercial teams).
- General Duties
- Comply with all company standards and uphold professional business conduct.
- Exhibit consistent and punctual attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical inclination with attention to detail.
- Consistent focus on achieving results and meeting goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
- Excellent teamwork capabilities.
- Able to navigate ambiguity and respond swiftly to changes in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Google Earth, ESRI, MyWorld/GE Smallworld.
- Experience in network design (with emphasis on fiber, Layer 1, 2, and 3).
- Knowledge of MAN technologies and structures (including WDM and Ethernet).
- Understanding of Internet technologies, functionalities, and services.
- Familiarity with networking protocols (emphasis on Layers 1, 2, and 3).
- Experience with data networking technologies and services (LAN, MAN, WAN, VPN).
- High-level comprehension of fiber optic network design and implementation.
