SuperGrid Institute, a leading player in the energy transition, is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join its C&P prototyping and HIL validation group. As part of this team, you will participate in the development of innovative high and medium voltage direct current (HVDC and MVDC) power systems.
Main Responsibilities:- Contribute to the technical improvement of the real-time simulation laboratory, focusing on rapid prototyping and HIL testing of industrial relays and controllers.
- Develop and validate DC Grid controls, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Coordinate internal and external activities to implement specified HIL setups, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Interact with customers throughout the pre-sale phase to delivery, providing expert guidance and support.
- Develop and maintain a control room / SCADA interface for demonstration purposes, showcasing the capabilities of our HVDC grid automation solutions.
- Create and maintain a shared competence within the Architecture and System program, focusing on communication and telecommunication techniques for HVDC grid automation, protection, and control.
- Participate in the structuration of the technical and commercial offer, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and expectations.
- Organize demonstration visits, publish technical papers, and participate in conferences and events, promoting the expertise of SuperGrid Institute.
We are seeking an Engineer or PhD holder specializing in Electrical Engineering, with 3-5 years of experience in modeling and simulation of electrical systems (high voltage). Key qualifications include:
- Experience in modeling and simulation of electrical systems with software such as PSCAD, EMTP, and/or HYPERSIM.
- Knowledge of power electronics and controls, with a focus on HVDC switching and breaking equipment, fault current limiting technologies.
- Understanding of communication for electrical substation automation (IEC 61850 standard).
- Programming skills in C/C++ and Python (a plus).
- Good command of English.
