CIMMYT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Delhi. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a crucial role in managing our contract life cycle, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing expert legal advice to our teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the contract life cycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and amending contracts and agreements.
- Control and manage the archive of contracts, documents, and agreements related to CIMMYT's research and institutional/corporate activities.
- Ensure proper follow-up of entrusted matters, tracking these matters daily in the provided dashboards and preparing progress updates to relevant areas.
- Research and analyze laws, regulations, and procedures to provide legal support concerning institutional matters.
- Represent the Legal Department and CIMMYT before different authorities and forums.
- Draft legal correspondence, memos, meeting minutes, and other documents as necessary.
- Participate in the optimization of processes for legal services and guidelines.
- Support internal processes operated by the Legal Department.
- Conducting legal research and analysis, preparing presentations and consolidated reports for the Legal Department.
- A Degree in Law.
- 3 years of experience in-house or experience in similar roles or activities.
- Advanced level of English, with a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Adobe software. Experience with Contract Automation software is desirable.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and possess strong attention to detail.
- A sense of urgency and commitment to responsibilities and deadlines.
- Teamwork, Customer Orientation, Achievement Orientation competencies.
The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 12 months, after which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds. CIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration package, with a range of benefits including health insurance.
