Head of Accounting

The Head of Accounting role is a critical position within the Shared Service Center (SSC) organization, requiring strong business acumen and a deep understanding of accounting, process optimization, and financial reporting. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 12 professionals in processing all volumetric accounting flows and centralizing information into monthly reporting packages.
Key Responsibilities- AP processing: oversee accounts payable, including supplier invoices, payments, DPO, aging balances, and short-term payment forecasts.
- Sales administration and billing: collaborate with IT services and business stakeholders to prepare billing, customer direct debits, and cash application.
- Cash collection: work with sales operations to collect payments from private and public organizations.
- Month-end reporting: ensure accurate reporting of revenue, external expenses, fixed assets, and balance sheet impacts in IFRS and local GAAP.
- Business Process Owner (BPO) for accounts payable and order-to-cash processes.
- Team management, including 3 direct reports.
- Review of operating KPIs, focusing on volume and quality control.
- Support local sales teams on customer inquiries, including ticketing processes and commercial contracts.
- Supervise quality and controls.
- Lead cash collection and optimize group DSO.
- As BPO, review internal controls in the Sox referential.
- Ensure accurate closing activities for your team.
- Drive continuous improvement of internal controls and implement robust accounting controls and documentation globally.
- Collaborate with other finance teams (GL, FP&A, Corporate Finance) to ensure accuracy in accounts.
- Identify process pain points and drive improvements.
- At least 8 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on analyzing discrepancies and accounting controls.
- Experience in financial audit.
- Experience working in Shared Service centers.
- Management skills in an agile environment.
- Proficiency in English.
- Fluency in French and/or German.
- Skills in SAP S4 Hana and/or Zuora (billing tool).
