Position Overview
The role of Deputy Regional Operations Manager for Finance and Purchasing is crucial in delivering exceptional express services to our clientele. This position entails providing both functional and technical guidance to agency managers within the assigned region, as directed by the Regional Director, focusing on procurement, sourcing, and subcontractor management, while also overseeing and reporting on financial metrics for the initial and final delivery phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and select transport providers within the specified geographic region, evaluating their capabilities to fulfill service quality standards;
- Collaborate with the Regional Director, National DEO, and operational teams to establish a purchasing strategy, and engage in negotiations with transport providers and local stakeholders;
- Assist in determining the STT requirements of the agencies and aid in setting target pricing with a focus on profitability;
- Participate in contract negotiations, including drafting specifications, launching tenders, and preparing approval documentation based on evaluated offers;
- Oversee contract management by tracking compliance indicators, auditing and assessing providers, enhancing team skills, and adjusting transport agreements as necessary;
- Manage contract oversight, including invoice tracking, cost management (rental, fuel, repairs, etc.), revenue analysis from each provider, monitoring financial KPIs, and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints;
- Prepare activity reports and performance monitoring for senior management and National Operations;
- Facilitate the sharing of best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives;
- Guide and supervise the execution of SMI and both local and national projects associated with STT.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in transportation, with substantial experience in procuring transport services, either within a transport organization or as a shipper. A solid understanding of transport legislation is essential, alongside proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Excel).
Attention to detail is paramount, coupled with strong analytical and synthesis capabilities, and a commitment to customer satisfaction and results.
This role will require regular travel to various sites within the Northern region.
