Customs Brokerage Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Brokerage Manager to join our team at Expeditors. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for developing and managing our customs product in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:- People:
- Train, motivate, and mentor employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
- Conduct annual reviews to identify areas for improvement and develop personal development plans.
- Identify and develop high-potential employees to ensure a strong succession plan.
- Ensure all staff have clear job descriptions, expectations, and development plans.
- Conduct regular interviews with potential new personnel to ensure the right fit for our team.
- Operations:
- Ensure all customs authorizations are valid and up-to-date.
- Monitor undischarged transit forms and duty deferment usage.
- Monitor license and visa applications to ensure compliance.
- Meet with local customs officials to discuss performance, delays, and customs developments.
- Customer:
- Make regular calls to customers to ensure retention and sales goals are met.
- Ensure all new business is transitioned correctly.
- Report all calls and sales activities in our CRM system.
- Finance:
- Follow up on customs guarantees and refunds.
- Review and delegate AR reports to ensure timely payment.
- Ensure all accounts have credit limits and check for credit extensions when needed.
- Compliance:
- Promote compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
- Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts.
- Culture:
- Proactively promote the company's cultural attributes.
- Systems:
- Promote productivity tools and be open to implementing new system changes.
- Audit files in accordance with AEO standards.
- Manage customs systems and ensure all documentation is up-to-date.
- Minimum 3-5 years of customs brokerage experience, including 1-2 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of customs legislation, classification, valuation, and origin.
- Good understanding of customs systems and processes.
- Fluent in English.
- Proven negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- 26 workdays from home per year.
