Position Summary
We are looking for a Product Development Manager to oversee Reishi, our mycelium-derived leather alternative. This role is pivotal in identifying market demands, spearheading product innovation, and ensuring excellence in product quality. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with sales teams, clients, and various departments to meet our product objectives. Ideal applicants will possess a strong background in product management, particularly within the materials and luxury sectors, alongside exceptional leadership and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in tandem with the Sales team to analyze the market landscape for Reishi and guide future product iterations.
- Develop detailed product specifications tailored for existing and emerging markets.
- Establish and nurture robust relationships with key clients, ensuring their specific needs are met.
- Provide technical expertise to the sales team to enhance the sales strategy and process.
- Lead cross-functional teams towards achieving product milestones and objectives.
- Facilitate hands-on product evaluations and training sessions in collaboration with the Product Development team.
- Initiate and manage the product testing strategy.
- Maintain and update the internal product guide with fabrication recommendations.
- Oversee relationships with external manufacturing partners.
- Ensure the highest standards of product quality are consistently met.
- Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in the industry.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, product development, or a similar role.
- Experience in the fashion or luxury goods sector is preferred.
- Ability to interpret quantitative data to gain insights into product performance.
- Data-driven decision-maker with a strong intuitive sense.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to changing priorities.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently to achieve objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Proven leadership capabilities, especially in guiding scientific teams towards achieving goals.
- Fluency in both English and French.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience in materials engineering or product development within the materials sector is highly desirable.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 50% of the time.
