Psychiatric Admissions Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Admissions Coordinator to join our team at McLean Hospital. As a key member of our admissions team, you will be responsible for facilitating the psychiatric admissions process for patients across our four campuses, ensuring seamless transitions and exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Admissions Coordination: Facilitate inpatient admissions for psychiatric and substance abuse referrals, conducting thorough interviews with patients, family members, or referring professionals to gather clinical and demographic data.
- Triage and Assessment: Gather comprehensive and accurate information relevant to the need for inpatient admission, reviewing EPIC records and clinical timelines to ensure informed decision-making.
- Bed Management: Provide MGB-wide bed search following established triage procedures, ensuring optimal bed utilization and patient flow.
- Financial Screening: Verify insurance coverage, interpret insurance data, and complete eligibility determinations and precertifications as necessary.
- Documentation and Reporting: Enter patient information into EPIC accurately and efficiently, maintaining up-to-date records and reports.
- Confidentiality and Security: Maintain confidentiality of departmental information, adhering to established procedures and protocols.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, healthcare administration).
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mental health care settings, with at least 1 year in a psychiatric triage role.
- Skills: Strong interviewing skills, clinical knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, data entry, excellent interpersonal communication, and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
