Position SummaryThe Senior Project Manager for Engineering and Operations will oversee complex, high-stakes projects with minimal oversight from upper management. This role encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from initiation through to closure, ensuring that all aspects are managed effectively. The successful candidate will lead project teams, allocate responsibilities, identify necessary resources, and develop timelines to guarantee the successful completion of projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe individual in this role will be responsible for the comprehensive management of multiple large-scale capital projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the planning, design, and execution of significant capital projects with minimal supervision.
- Establishing and monitoring project costs, scope, schedule, and risks to ensure projects are delivered within approved parameters.
- Creating detailed project plans that clearly outline scopes, responsibilities, milestones, and procurement strategies.
- Developing and managing project schedules aligned with project objectives.
- Coordinating the development of both conceptual and detailed designs.
- Engaging with external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Providing regular project updates to management and stakeholders in accordance with established communication protocols.
- Ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards throughout the project.
- Coordinating procurement efforts for external materials and services as needed.
- Managing the bid process and contracts for external engineering and construction services.
- Facilitating interdepartmental communication to meet project goals.
- Mentoring less experienced project managers and team members to support their professional growth.
In addition to the above, the Principal Project Manager will:
- Oversee all permitting processes, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for complex projects.
- Coordinate activities across multiple internal departments and external agencies to facilitate project delivery.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficiency in project scheduling, cost control, and reporting methodologies.
- Strong financial acumen to manage project budgets effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage conflicts effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Business Administration or a related technical field.
- Ten years of relevant professional experience.
- Current Professional Engineer License or Project Management Professional certification.
- Experience in the electric utility sector and familiarity with applicable regulations.
