Senior Mechanical Field Service Engineer

Il y a 3 mois

Élancourt, Île-de-France AMETEK Temps plein

AMETEK NSI-MI stands as the leading provider of sophisticated RF measurement solutions tailored for aerospace, defense, satellite, and wireless applications, among others. Our distinguished team of specialists manages every aspect of the design, construction, and system integration of measurement systems utilized for evaluating customer test articles such as antennas, radars, satellites, and similar apparatus. These testing systems comprise highly precise mechanical positioners of various dimensions and RF instrumentation that operate cohesively. The longevity of these systems necessitates expert preventive and corrective support for both mechanical and RF subsystems, delivered at customer locations globally. The NSI-MI field service team is dedicated to offering unparalleled long-term support that clients can rely on to fulfill their critical testing requirements.

Overview:

The Mechanical Field Service Engineer is an essential member of the customer support team, responsible for traveling to client sites to deliver services. These services encompass calibration, maintenance, and repair of NSI-MI equipment. Reporting to the Field Services Manager, the Field Service Engineer must exhibit robust technical skills alongside excellent communication, time management, planning, and organizational abilities. Given that much of the work will occur independently at customer facilities, the candidate must possess the capability to think and operate autonomously with minimal guidance and be adept at improvising with limited resources.

As a representative of NSI-MI Technologies, the Field Service Engineer is expected to cultivate strong working relationships with clients and consistently strive to ensure their satisfaction with the company's products and services. It is equally important for the Field Service Engineer to identify potential new business opportunities, including equipment upgrades, training, and additional products and services.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in servo motor-based mechanical positioners, robotics, or other intricate heavy machinery. Candidates lacking experience in servicing or system integration of complex electromechanical machinery may find this position unsuitable.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional responses promptly to all clients.
  • Support customer testing and production facilities on a regularly scheduled or as-needed basis for calibrations and preventive maintenance (PM).
  • Execute precision system alignment across multiple axes using laser trackers or other optical tools to achieve accuracies around 10 μm.
  • Demonstrate exceptional diagnostic skills to identify issues and repair equipment.
  • Troubleshoot systems and assist clients to ensure the proper operation of positioners, controllers, and other electromechanical devices.
  • Diagnose and repair computer hardware and software.
  • Prepare comprehensive Field Service Reports, Calibration Certificates, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Manage time and priorities effectively to ensure tasks are completed on or ahead of schedule.
  • Foster outstanding relationships with clients to enhance future business opportunities.
  • Ensure clients are informed about the company's new products (hardware and software) to facilitate system upgrades.
  • Support clients in every possible way to maintain their testing systems and ranges in the required operational state.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • This role will necessitate extensive domestic and international travel.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work and troubleshoot independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skillfully manage challenging situations while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Experience in working with and/or servicing large, complex electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in reading schematic diagrams and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with alignment using precision mechanical tools (e.g., laser tracker).
  • Capability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software (Windows-based).
  • Additional requirements include the ability to: drive a company vehicle, pack and ship test equipment, and perform some lifting.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with servo motors and control systems.
  • Experience with positioning systems.
  • Knowledge of laser alignment tools (laser tracker & Spatial Analyzer software) is preferred.
  • Programming skills (C, C#, Python, or similar).
  • Experience with terrestrial radar systems.

Experience Level: 5+ years

Education Level: University Diploma (e.g., Bachelors FH) - Desired

Location: France
