Service Sales Leader – Marine Sector

Role Overview
The position of Global Marine & Navy Service Sales Manager is integral to the strategic vision of Johnson Controls, focusing on enhancing our service growth initiatives. Reporting directly to the Head of Service Sales, you will spearhead a dedicated team of sales experts, aiming to expand our service repair and maintenance portfolio. This role presents a unique opportunity to cultivate and develop the team as we achieve success in our target markets.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be on acquiring new service contracts, which includes increasing share-of-wallet and cross-selling additional products and services to both new and existing clients.
In collaboration with our inside sales teams, you will take ownership of the service sales growth strategy, concentrating on direct sales within key market segments.
Execution Strategy
You will lead the implementation of Go-To-Market strategies across existing and emerging vertical markets (such as renewables) and utilize enterprise tools along with value selling methodologies to achieve targeted growth.
By ensuring that strategies are met, you will extract key insights to continually refine our sales approach for optimal success.
Encouraging the effective use of company systems, tools, pricing policies, and sales training processes will be part of your responsibilities.
Through diligent performance management and leveraging market and CRM data, you will combine field accompaniment with structured mentoring discussions to ensure continuous improvement within our field sales teams.
You will utilize the framework, tools, and processes available to ensure that coaching is tailored to meet the needs of every team member. Promoting JCI's digital and sustainability solutions will be crucial in generating and securing service contract opportunities and pipelines within your teams.
While our GM&N sales team operates on a global scale, this role will specifically manage teams in designated regions. As such, travel will be necessary to effectively support our sales professionals.
Candidate Profile
The Service Sales Manager will drive the acquisition of new service contracts, necessitating experience in developing and leading high-performing teams. A background in field sales, along with a deep understanding of relationship selling complexities, business development, opportunity management, and pipeline oversight through both informal and formal interactions, is essential.
Demonstrating a commitment to team investment and a passion for coaching for success is vital.
Essential Qualifications
- A proactive, results-oriented approach to sales with the ability to manage multiple forecasts and financial commitments.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
- Ability to identify new opportunities for market share expansion and collaborate with teams to formulate new go-to-market strategies.
- Consistent leadership and oversight of the sales team.
- Setting clear sales goals and monitoring progress.
- Evaluating team performance and providing coaching for success.
Additional Requirements
- 3-5 years of Sales Management experience with a proven track record, preferably in the Marine or offshore sector.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and financial communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as required.
