Department Overview:

You will be joining the Group Underwriting Office, which is responsible for driving profitability and growth through strategic underwriting initiatives. This newly established office collaborates with AXA entities to enhance both Commercial and Retail underwriting through:

  • Portfolio Design Management
  • Underwriting Product Strategy and Profitability Analysis
  • Technical Underwriting Support
  • Development of Pricing Models and Analytical Tools
  • Implementation of Risk Appetite Strategies
  • Design and Procurement of Reinsurance Strategies

Role Overview:

The primary objective of the P&C Retail Unit is to promote Technical Excellence across global entities, facilitating growth and profitability. As a Senior Retail Enablement Manager, you will play a crucial role in establishing frameworks that ensure the success of our entities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and refining Governance and Control processes, including Referrals, Application Letters, and Breaches.
  • Identifying and executing specific projects based on the needs of the entities, creating toolkits and methodologies.
  • Exploring innovative approaches to business challenges, leveraging both internal and external resources.
  • Maintaining a continuous market perspective through active participation in industry conferences and engagement with startups.
  • Utilizing Data and AI capabilities to address emerging underwriting challenges.
  • Designing and delivering training programs aimed at enhancing technical underwriting skills across entities.

Key Metrics:

  • Engagement with over 20 countries/entities and 3 regional hubs.
  • Oversight of €49 billion in revenues, representing 49% of AXA Group's total revenue.
  • Management of €17 billion in revenues from P&C Retail & Partnerships.
  • Handling of 70+ requests for non-authorized underwriting business annually, equating to approximately €2 billion in Gross Written Premium.

Challenges and Opportunities:

The P&C Retail sector is a vital component of AXA's overall strategy, contributing significantly to both earnings and customer base. As the market evolves, we face challenges such as:

  • Market commoditization and technological advancements impacting traditional products.
  • Complex customer experiences leading to difficulties in establishing long-term relationships.
  • External pressures including claims inflation and changing customer behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance and Control: Manage referrals and coordinate with stakeholders throughout the referral process.
  • Capability Development: Promote best practices in underwriting through tailored training programs.
  • Data and AI Integration: Collaborate with data scientists to develop tools and methodologies for underwriting challenges.
  • Industry Knowledge: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of P&C business operations and actuarial principles.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of underwriting experience in Retail Lines of Business.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in complex environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and analytical tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and effective communication skills.
