Design System Manager

BlaBlaCar is a leading community-based travel app that enables 27 million members to carpool or travel by bus in 21 countries. Our team of 800 employees, representing over 50 nationalities, is spread across 5 global offices, with 30% working fully remotely.
We are seeking a Design System Manager to ensure the continued growth and scalability of our design system, PIXAR. This role is crucial for maintaining consistency and efficiency across multiple platforms, working closely with product, design, and development teams.
As a key member of the Design Team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work closely with the Design System Guild, a group of expert engineers dedicated to maintaining and evolving the system.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop a strategic vision for industrializing the design system, reducing reliance on manual updates, and increasing efficiency, consistency, and integration with product and engineering pipelines.
- Ensure the design system is optimized for performance and scalability, meeting future product demands.
- Ensure the design system is fully compliant with accessibility standards (WCAG, RGAA) and automate accessibility checks where possible.
- Work closely with designers, content and localization teams, UX research, brand teams, product teams, and development to continuously iterate and improve the design system based on data.
- Experience with automation tools and workflows for design systems, including the use of design tokens and automated updates.
- Strong understanding of frontend development, particularly how design systems are implemented in code.
- Proven experience in building or reshaping a design system from the ground up, with a focus on scalability, industrialization, and automation.
- Strong experience in creating and maintaining documentation for design systems.
- Fluency in English.
- Full remote possible in the country of employment.
