Design System Manager

BlaBlaCar is a leading community-based travel app with 27 million members worldwide. Our team of 800 employees from 50 nationalities is spread across 5 global offices, with 30% working remotely.
We're seeking a Design System Manager to drive the growth and scalability of our design system, PIXAR. This role is crucial for maintaining consistency and efficiency across multiple platforms, collaborating with product, design, and development teams.
As a key member of the Design Team, you'll work closely with the Design System Guild, a group of expert engineers dedicated to maintaining and evolving the system.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop a strategic vision for industrializing the design system, reducing manual updates, and increasing efficiency.
- Ensure the design system is optimized for performance and scalability, meeting future product demands.
- Guarantee accessibility and compliance with standards (WCAG, RGAA), automating checks where possible.
- Cross-team collaboration: work with designers, content, localization, UX research, brand, product, and development teams to iterate and improve the design system.
- Experience with automation tools and workflows for design systems, including design tokens and automated updates.
- Strong understanding of frontend development, particularly design system implementation in code (e.g., React, Compose, or SwiftUI).
- Proven experience in building or reshaping a design system from scratch, focusing on scalability, industrialization, and automation.
- Strong documentation skills, ensuring clear communication of guidelines, standards, and processes for designers and developers.
- Full remote work possible in the country of employment.
