Job Overview

The Senior Financial Reporting & Accounting Specialist will play a crucial role in:
  1. Overseeing the Chart of Accounts (CoA) enhancement phase to ensure a coherent and dependable Chart of Accounts across all platforms (SAS/Omega/SAP/BFC) while establishing appropriate governance around these matters.
  2. Offering expert guidance or training to legal entities on IFRS 17 related issues to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between various systems and the analytical foundation necessary for technical analysis preparation.
  3. Participating in or spearheading finance initiatives within the Group Reporting & Accounting division.
  4. Assisting the business in pinpointing the operational facets of accounting regulations that may influence their decisions, in close collaboration with the Center of Excellence (CoE) regarding accounting treatment and impact assessments for specific contracts.
  5. Aiding in the management of auditor relationships concerning financial reporting and accounting matters.

This role collaborates extensively with all finance sectors, providing a comprehensive perspective on the significant financial challenges faced by the Property & Casualty and Life & Health sectors of a global reinsurance firm.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Group Reporting & Accounting:
  1. Oversee the CoA enhancement phase:
    • Develop a Chart of Accounts that connects the Omega TC to SAP GL and BFC, facilitating the generation of Financial Statements, Rollforward, and external disclosures under IFRS 17.
    • Ensure the stability of the CoA for other reporting requirements (Parent/local GAAP).
    • Engage in business testing and implementation assessments of the designed CoA.
    • Collaborate with IT, Business Units, and project teams.
    • Establish the necessary governance for CoA modifications in Business As Usual (BAU) operations.
  2. Provide expert guidance or training on IFRS 17:
    • Ensure that legal entities comprehend the CoA for their analyses during clearance meetings.
    • Maintain and enhance AFO reports utilized by legal entities for their clearance submissions.
    • Review clearance submissions to identify critical topics and create a group synthesis.
    • Follow up post-quarter to refine/automate the process and enhance knowledge and feedback to legal entities.
  3. Engage in or lead finance initiatives:
    • Redesign the Input/Output process in light of IFRS 17.
  4. Assist the business:
    • Identify operational aspects of accounting regulations pertinent to decision-making.
    • Provide a secondary level of controls regarding the creation of technical notes (P&C/Life).
  5. Contribute to auditor relationship management:
    • Manage the IFRS 17 Prepared By Client (PBC) list related to accounting issues.
    • Oversee items provided to auditors and ensure appropriate responses are delivered.

Required Qualifications

Essential Experience & Skills:
  • Experience in IFRS financial reporting.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Strong grasp of Actuarial/Risk Assessment/Financial Techniques.
  • Familiarity with insurance/reinsurance industry principles.
  • Ability to identify and articulate key issues clearly.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities.

Required Education:
A Master's degree (or higher) in Finance/Audit/Controlling from a Business School or a robust finance and accounting background (domestic or foreign CPA). Actuarial training is advantageous.
Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in a financial department, ideally within a reinsurance or insurance organization or as an external auditor.
