Assistant Director of Finance

The City of St. Charles is seeking a highly skilled and experienced finance professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Finance. This role will play a critical part in the City's Finance Department, overseeing financial operations, managing treasury functions, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities- Directly support the Director of Finance in setting goals and objectives for the department, coordinating treasury functions, and managing complex accounting work.
- Oversee the recording of financial accounting transactions, including ledgers, financial records, bank statements, and financial reports.
- Ensure the accuracy of various accounting records, processes, and transactions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll records, and quarterly payroll returns.
- Develop and implement new or improved accounting practices and procedures, ensuring adherence to reporting requirements and standards.
- Directly supervise six employees, assigning and directing work, monitoring productivity, and providing feedback and training.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Eight years of accounting experience, with governmental accounting experience preferred.
- Five years of supervisory experience.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to foster positive relationships throughout the organization.
- Skilled in MS Office applications and ERP-related financial software applications.
A competitive salary range of $115,002 to $161,003, with starting pay commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, prescription, vision, wellness incentives, life insurance, retirement pension plan, and other retirement savings options.
