Single Photon Source Fiber Coupling Engineer

Quandela is at the forefront of developing and commercializing quantum computing technologies that leverage the manipulation of single photons. We are currently looking for a dedicated and skilled Fiber Pigtailing Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis.
Role Overview
As a Fiber Pigtailing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the advancement of our quantum light emitter devices, collaborating closely with our semiconductor team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the fiber pigtailing process, ensuring stable and efficient coupling of emitted single photons into monomode fiber. You will also be tasked with characterizing performance and enhancing the process for devices operating at cryogenic temperatures.
Short-Term Responsibilities (1-2 years)
- Quickly familiarize yourself with the existing pigtailing technologies.
- Develop and refine high-precision optical tools essential for the process.
- Document processing results and findings meticulously.
- Support characterization engineers in the optical evaluation of devices.
- Assist in the integration of cryogenic systems.
Long-Term Responsibilities (2-5 years)
- Evaluate the impact of pigtailing processes and parameters on device performance, focusing on coupling efficiency and stability.
- Innovate product packaging solutions to enhance performance and facilitate commercialization.
- Achieve mastery in cryogenic instruments and ensure their long-term functionality.
- Provide technical guidance to clients regarding delivered pigtailed sources.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience (including PhD) in a relevant research laboratory setting.
- Strong foundation in optics, high-precision tooling, and fiber coupling methodologies.
- Proficiency in numerical calculations of optical properties using software such as Lumerical or Comsol.
- Experience with instrument communication through Python or similar programming languages.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with solid-state quantum emitters and high-precision optics.
- Familiarity with cryogenic systems is highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex optical experiments independently.
- Collaborative team player capable of managing multiple projects across various departments.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a commitment to clear and frequent reporting.
