- Support national and European sovereignty in microelectronics and digital technology
To support this strategy, it is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher.
Job Description:
The Centre for Innovation in Biomechanics and Bioengineering (CIS) brings together 70 people, including 18 professors in engineering, industrial/computing, biomechanics, and healthcare engineering. Since its creation in 2004, the CIS has been representative of the ability of Mines Saint-Etienne to acquire leadership on innovative themes such as soft tissue biomechanics.
The CIS is part of the SAINBIOSE research unit (Inserm U1059), which aims to establish a better understanding of biostress in osteoarticular and cardiovascular pathology. The global scientific objective of SAINBIOSE is to understand and address biostress in these pathologies.
The research group has 15 years of experience in biomechanics and mechanobiology. The postdoctoral researcher will work on the JuvenTwin project, which aims to establish multiscale digital twins of ageing effects on vascular mechanobiology and to simulate and screen effective rejuvenation treatments.
The work will be carried out at Mines Saint-Etienne, within the SAINBIOSE research unit. The postdoctoral researcher will study the mechanics of cells embedded in hydrogels using confocal microscopy and measure traction forces using digital volume correlation. They will also test excised aortas with a custom computer-controlled extension-distension testing device combined with in situ multiphoton techniques to study the effects of vascular ageing on mechanobiology.
A stay of 6 months at Yale University (Jay Humphrey's lab) is planned. Tasks may change depending on the needs of the department and Mines Saint-Etienne.
Profile Sought:
The postdoctoral researcher will be employed as a postdoctoral researcher if they have a doctoral degree no more than 3 years old. If their doctorate is more than 3 years old, they will be employed as a research and development engineer.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in biomechanics and the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Capacity to successfully integrate a team and a group within a R&D environment
- Good knowledge of basic cell biology
- First experience with testing vascular cells and/or blood vessels
- Expertise in front-end and back-end development
