Job Description

PhD Position in Signal Processing with Quantum Methods

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to work on a research project focused on signal processing with quantum methods. The project aims to develop and apply novel signal processing techniques based on the squared eigenfunctions of the Schrödinger operator for the identification of vulnerable carotid plaques using CT scans.

About the Project

The project will involve the development of a quantum-based signal processing method, called semi-classical signal analysis (SCSA), which decomposes the signal into a set of functions given by the squared eigenfunctions of the Schrödinger operator associated with its negative eigenvalues. The SCSA method has been successfully applied in various biomedical applications, including arterial blood pressure waveform analysis, magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) denoising, and feature extraction in epileptic seizure detection.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply the SCSA method for the identification of vulnerable carotid plaques using CT scans
  • Analyze the mathematical properties of the SCSA method and compare it with state-of-the-art methods such as Wavelets and empirical model decomposition methods
  • Investigate the use of the 2D-SCSA for the characterization of CT scans
  • Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement the SCSA method

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., signal processing, biomedical engineering, mathematics)
  • Strong background in signal processing and machine learning
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

What We Offer

  • Subsidized meals
  • Partial reimbursement of public transport costs
  • Leave: 7 weeks of annual leave + 10 extra days off due to RTT (statutory reduction in working hours) + possibility of exceptional leave
  • Possibility of teleworking and flexible organization of working hours
  • Professional equipment available
  • Access to vocational training
  • Social security coverage

Salary

Gross salary 2,100 euros/month
