As a Character Technical Lead, you will oversee the technical solutions that facilitate the production and integration of 3D character assets within a AAA game development environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Being technically accountable for character assets across projects, which encompasses budget definition , production constraints , and performance considerations.
- Proposing, implementing, or enhancing tools and methodologies essential for the character production pipeline, particularly focusing on shaders (such as hair, facial features, clothing, etc.).
- Acting as a problem solver and serving as the technical liaison for the character art team.
- Assessing pipeline technical requirements to facilitate the creation of 3D character assets.
- Overseeing data generated by Creative teams (Art & Design) to ensure adherence to the technical constraints established.
- Adapting to both technical and artistic limitations to optimize production workflows.
- Communicating technical constraints and their rationale to the modeling team while providing visibility to the project direction team.
- Training art team members on new tools and methodologies.
You should possess significant experience in Character Technical Art within a real-time context.
- Strong understanding of technical constraints associated with real-time 3D character production.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring tools within game engines (such as Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.).
- Knowledge of rigging and shaders, along with the related technical constraints.
- Proficiency in one or more DCC tools like 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, etc.
- Demonstrated autonomy, proactivity, and ability to summarize complex information.
- Capability to work in English within an international setting.
- Scripting skills (Python, C#) are essential; familiarity with C++ is a plus but not mandatory.
- Additional expertise in real-time clothing, facial rigging, and hair simulation is advantageous.
