Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Character Technical Director to join our team at 2K. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of character asset production and ensuring seamless integration with our game engine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement technical solutions for character asset production, including budget definition, production constraints, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with the character art team to identify and implement necessary tools and methods for the character production pipeline, focusing on shaders, rigging, and facial animation.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for the character art team, providing problem-solving expertise and ensuring adherence to technical constraints.
  • Analyze pipeline technical needs to produce high-quality 3D assets for character creation, working closely with the modeling team and project direction.
  • Communicate technical constraints and their reasoning to the modeling team and provide visibility to the project direction team.
  • Train art team members on new tools and methods, ensuring a smooth transition to new technologies.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in character technical art in a real-time context, with a strong understanding of technical constraints linked to real-time 3D character production.
  • Knowledge of performance standards monitoring tools in a game engine, such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Experience with DCC software like 3DS Max, Maya, or Blender, with a focus on rigging, shaders, and associated technical constraints.
  • Autonomous, proactive, and able to summarize complex technical information, with a strong understanding of the stakes in a new AAA technical environment.
  • Ability to work in English in an international environment, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Scripting skills in Python, C#, or other languages, with the ability to work with C++ a plus but not required.
  • Additional skills in real-time clothes, facial rig, and hair are a plus.
