Our HVDC (high-voltage direct current) division plays a crucial role in facilitating a carbon-neutral energy framework. This technology is exceptionally effective for the long-distance transmission of substantial electricity volumes, integrating renewable energy sources, and connecting various power grids, thereby paving the way for innovative sustainable transmission solutions.
We are currently seeking a Project HSE Manager to join our HVDC Project Site Management Team in France. This role is vital for ensuring the project's health, safety, and environmental objectives are met and maintained.
The Project HSE Manager will report directly to the Project Director while also collaborating functionally with the Global Head of HSE Operations. The primary focus will be on aligning with strategic HSE goals and fulfilling contractual obligations, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance are achieved and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess Customer HSE requirements and outline how Hitachi Energy will manage HSE throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop all HSE tender documentation in line with the ITT and TDL, submitting preliminary HSE plans to the Customer as per tender deadlines.
- Participate in clarification meetings and workshops with the Customer, both virtually and in person.
- Draft Scope of Works for Subcontractor work packages related to HSE.
- Provide cost estimates for HSE-related project needs, including resources, consumables, training, and third-party services.
- Create the Project HSE Plan and other essential HSE documentation, such as the Emergency Preparedness & Response Plan.
- Engage in HAZID Studies with the Project Engineering Team during both conceptual and detailed design phases.
- Establish the HSE Organization, ensuring adequate HSE resources are allocated throughout the Project stages (Construction, Installation, and Commissioning).
- Ensure compliance with legal and contractual HSE requirements, as well as internal HSE standards.
- Generate reports for Project Reviews, both internal and for the Customer, attending Project Review meetings to ensure the Hitachi Energy HSE Operating System remains effective and suitable.
- Propose HSE KPIs for the Project, monitoring and analyzing performance, and taking action when targets are not met.
- Review HSE documentation from all Hitachi Energy Subcontractors, assisting them in meeting internal and Project HSE standards.
- Oversee the HSE reporting process within the Project, including local country organization reporting and the global incident database.
- Initiate, plan, coordinate, and follow up on HSE audits for the Project, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements as per the Project HSE Plans.
- Drive the implementation of the project safety culture plan/program.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in HSE Management for projects of similar scale and complexity, with a preference for Offshore platform projects.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in English (both verbal and written) and French.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards.
- Diploma-level qualification in HSE Management.
- Membership in IOSH (GradIOSH) or an equivalent organization.
- Knowledge of HSE legislation applicable in France.
- At least three years of experience in drafting HSE technical documentation.
- Proficient in MS Office, SharePoint, ShareFile, and Microsoft Teams.
