The R&D Maizières Process lab is dedicated to supporting ArcelorMittal's production plants in achieving competitiveness, quality, and sustainability through the development or improvement of innovative processes or processing routes.
ArcelorMittal Europe is committed to reducing CO2 emissions by 35% by 2030 and aims to be carbon neutral by 2050. In the coming decades, steel production will undergo a significant transformation, shifting towards the use of DRI and scraps in the early stages of the metallurgical routes for the production of liquid steel.
Your Responsibilities- Participate in R&D projects for the development of new or optimized processes in ArcelorMittal industrial plants, including the evaluation of new breakthrough technologies for the steelmaking industry and the deployment of new industrial tools to ensure that steel grades produced on new routes display the same quality and properties as those produced until now.
- Provide a specific focus and develop experience on the evaluation of materials and alternative materials to be used in future production routes, including raw input materials, refractories, casting powders, etc.
- Work closely with ArcelorMittal industrial plants, frequently traveling to provide expertise for technical assistance or to contribute to the deployment of in-house process models.
- Design, organize, and analyze process trials from lab to industrial scale, including 6t pilot scale in Maizières facilities.
- Interact with the entire ArcelorMittal community, including Global R&D specialists and technicians, plant experts, corporate teams, and external partners such as academic laboratories, technical centers, and suppliers.
- Master's degree in material science, metallurgy, thermodynamics, material characterization, process engineering, or a related field.
- A first experience in the field of steelmaking process and evaluation/characterization of steelmaking materials, chemical engineering, metallurgy would be a plus.
- Excellent social skills to work in project teams within a multi-cultural environment and different factories.
- Ability to travel worldwide.
- Advanced level of English. Intermediate level of French.
