R&D Steelmaking Engineer

ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel producer, is seeking a talented Research Engineer to join its Steelmaking department at the R&D Maizières Process lab. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's production plants' competitiveness, quality, and sustainability by developing or improving innovative processes or processing routes.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in R&D projects to develop new or optimized steelmaking processes, evaluating breakthrough technologies and deploying industrial tools to ensure consistent quality and properties.
- Focus on evaluating materials and alternative materials for future production routes, including raw input materials, refractories, and casting powders.
- Collaborate with ArcelorMittal industrial plants, providing technical assistance and contributing to the deployment of in-house process models.
- Design, organize, and analyze process trials from lab to industrial scale, including 6t pilot scale in Maizières facilities.
- Interact with the ArcelorMittal community, including Global R&D specialists, plant experts, and corporate teams, and develop collaborative research with external partners.
- Master's degree in material science, metallurgy, thermodynamics, material characterization, process engineering, or a related field.
- First experience in steelmaking process evaluation and characterization of steelmaking materials, chemical engineering, or metallurgy is a plus.
- Excellent social skills for working in project teams within a multi-cultural environment and different factories.
- Ability to travel worldwide.
- Advanced level of English and intermediate level of French.
