Factor Eleven is seeking a remote Lead Cloud Operations Engineer.

YOUR MISSION

We are in search of a seasoned Lead Cloud Operations Engineer (LCOE) to enhance our users' experience with a comprehensive feature set, exceptional availability, and outstanding performance. As we advance our digital advertising SaaS platform, we are refining our processes and pipelines, allowing our LCOEs to extract insights from the vast data generated by our ad-serving infrastructure and to oversee the health and efficiency of the complex systems presented to our clients through APIs and web applications.

In this role, you will collaborate with Product Owners and their teams to empower, guide, and support various engineering groups. As a Lead Cloud Operations Engineer at Factor Eleven, you will provide robust, future-ready solutions utilizing AWS and Kubernetes, contribute innovative ideas, oversee and evaluate the work of your team members, and enjoy working alongside cross-functional teams to create practical solutions and enhance user experiences at every touchpoint.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the production environment by monitoring system availability and taking a comprehensive view of system health.
  • Plan, guide, and assess the contributions of your team members.
  • Develop software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
  • Enhance reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions.
  • Measure and optimize system performance, focusing on anticipating customer needs and innovating for continuous improvement.
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for our digital advertising SaaS platform.
  • Collect and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with development teams to enhance services through thorough testing and release processes.
  • Engage in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and enhancements.
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with clearly defined service level objectives.

YOUR PROFILE

  • 5+ years of experience in roles such as Cloud Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes with Helm and container orchestration using Docker.
  • Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS.
  • Proficiency in programming (structured and OO) with various high-level languages, including TypeScript, Rust, C/C++, C#, Python, GoLang, or Java.
  • Extensive experience with Application Performance Monitoring, Tracing, and Logging tools such as DataDog, Kibana, Grafana, HoneyComb, Harvest, etc.
  • Solid experience with event-driven architecture using distributed message brokers like Apache Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, RabbitMQ, or Redis Streams.
  • Good understanding of dynamic resource management frameworks (Kubernetes, Yarn, Helm, cdk8s, AWS CDK, Terraform).
  • A proactive mindset for identifying issues, areas for enhancement, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Basic knowledge of common tools and pipelines in the NodeJS/NPM ecosystem.
  • A problem-solving attitude and a collaborative spirit.
  • Preferred: AWS and/or Kubernetes certifications.
