Position: Senior HVAC Specialist
Location: France / Paris
Duration: 12 Months Renewable
Status: Resident
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects related to HVAC engineering, ensuring alignment with the Statement of Requirement and approved modifications.
- Act as the technical authority for HVAC within the organization.
- Develop and propose the technical framework for essential studies to prompt EPC contractor actions, ensuring compliance with contemporary LNG plant design standards.
- Manage all subcontracted studies and provide assistance to other project packages with support from headquarters specialists.
- Ensure HVAC design decisions consider constructability, operational efficiency, and facility adaptability.
- Offer recommendations on technical deviation requests and maintain updated documentation pertinent to the HVAC discipline.
- Engage in studies required by external parties as necessary.
- Communicate and implement the H3SE policies of the organization, ensuring engineering development aligns accordingly.
- Guarantee adherence to company regulations and specifications, project specifications, relevant international standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Lead the evaluation of key deliverables from contractors, such as HVAC LLI PO reviews, consolidating feedback from other engineering disciplines and operations.
- Provide technical support for any audits required by financial institutions, insurance companies, or board members, including HAZOP and PR assessments.
- Collaborate with others to prepare and execute Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), attending vendor meetings and FATs as necessary.
- Ensure HVAC equipment is commissioned and initiated according to detailed engineering documentation and vendor recommendations, seeking vendor support when required.
- Verify the quality and completeness of HVAC design documentation, ensuring compliance with project scope, specifications, and procedures for a smooth handover to operations.
- Report on potential impacts to overall project strategy, scheduling, and target achievement.
- Facilitate workshops with headquarters specialists and contractor experts to ensure company concepts and feedback are clearly understood and integrated into technical documents.
- Guide the EPC contractor in main design selections using a fit-for-purpose approach to achieve optimized designs, promoting and following up on deviation requests to company requirements.
- Ensure thorough reviews to maintain compliance with the applicable reference framework.
- Actively participate in effective interface management with Process, Safety, Rotating, Electrical, and other studies conducted during the EPSCC phase.
- Review and provide feedback on key technical documents from interfacing disciplines, including Process, Safety, Electrical, and rotating machinery, as well as project procedures when necessary.
- Contribute to Project HAZID and PR activities.
- Organize weekly meetings with counterpart disciplines and report highlights to management, proposing mitigation measures as needed.
- Participate in internal engineering weekly meetings.
- Provide technical insights for any contractual discussions with the EPC contractor.
- Support the development of the digital plant through centralized data management when applicable.
- Coordinate interface activities and ensure synergies are developed among different contractors.
- Engage with vendors, particularly for technical evaluations of LLIs.
- Ensure design validity and coherence across disciplines throughout the LNG facilities.
- Familiarize with local norms and practices, applying them to the project when relevant.
- Assist commissioning, startup, and operations teams as required, transferring project knowledge to operational teams.
- Document lessons learned and best practices throughout the EPC process.
- Contribute to the enhancement of personnel skills and promote knowledge transfer.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Chartered HVAC Engineer with over 10 years of proven experience in large onshore and LNG plant detailed design.
- Professional experience: Extensive experience in the EPSCC phase of LNG projects.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with project development processes and methods for regulatory submissions, permitting, technical approvals, and local standards is advantageous.
- Fluency in English.
