Job Summary

The Product Manager for Aerospace Business will be responsible for driving the development of the Aerospace segment, supporting sales actions related to our strategy of development, and boosting innovation on products and services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Market Intelligence:
    • Observe and analyze market demand, customer needs, trends, and changes in end-user application requirements.
    • Evaluate market size and trends for our product range.
    • Check competition product portfolios under various aspects, including technologies, costs, quality, and services.
    • Identify best opportunities for lead generation.
  • Product Strategy Definition:
    • Prepare strategic plans for our product range, including segmentation, target, positioning, revenues, margin, and footprint.
    • Develop product policies, including products, packaging, accessories, and services.
    • Measure the effectiveness of product marketing programs.
    • Contribute to defining the global pricing policy.
    • Provide indications for product stock policy.
    • Give marketing inputs to help Communications define the promotion policy and communication roadmap.
    • Own the product roadmap for the scope, building it according to the product policy for each product category.
  • Innovation and New Product Development:
    • Foster product innovation in the scope, seeking value creation and differentiation.
    • Contribute to the ideation process, visiting customers and installations to understand market needs and answer customer requests.
    • Continuously evaluate opportunities for new products or product redesign.
    • Translate market requirements into functional specifications.
    • Influence technical specifications at an early stage.
    • Ensure timely development and industrialization of new products, initiating, driving, and monitoring the development and industrialization process in coordination with different plants.
    • Build business cases and high-level financials for new products.
  • Product and Services Portfolio Management:
    • Be accountable for representing products within the e-catalogue.
    • Study Nexans' product offering for the scope, including technical specifications, design, costs, range of applications, and comparison with comparable competition products.
    • Identify gaps and redundancies in the product portfolio and work towards reducing them.
    • Manage or validate Stock Keeping Units (SKU's).
    • Initiate periodic benchmarks (costs/design/performance/services).
    • Build the sourcing matrix for multi-factories and propose actions to rationalize product sourcing.
    • Interface to build ToT (Transfer of Technology) specifications.
    • Propose actions to avoid product proliferation, such as pricing leverage, phasing out products, or design simplification.
    • Drive the cost reduction program and assist plants in process optimization (RTC).
    • Ensure that all necessary information for the Product Datasheet is provided and check their quality on a regular basis.
  • Sales Support:
    • Organize necessary technical support to Sales and Marketing for key accounts and/or big projects.
    • Train relevant internal partners on new products and/or new business models.
    • Promote offers and differentiators to key stakeholders.
    • Support sales monitoring.
  • Communication:
    • Give marketing inputs to help Communications define the promotion plan and communication roadmap.
    • Provide product/services roadmap to the Communications team.
    • Involvement in the communication team at an early stage of the product/services launch process.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Engineering education with 10 years' experience in a related field, completed with a business education or training.
  • Or
  • Business school education with 10 years' experience in coordination with technical departments.
  • Strategic thinker and business developer, able to build sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management skills, global team player, able to work with an international team including cultural differences to optimize efficiency of tasks.
  • Leadership, communication skills, influencing skills - ability to convince without hierarchical management of some critical resources.
  • Fluent in English - frequent international travels.
  • Good level in communication and analysis software tools, such as Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.
