We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Data Center Colocation Regional Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Data Center Field Engineering Team, you will be responsible for driving Mechanical/Electrical Engineering services, construction, and implementation of enterprise data centers that meet quality and performance levels across the globe.
Key Responsibilities- Design Review and Input: Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in your region, including design input, submittal review, and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design meets AWS expectations.
- Resident Engineer: Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
- Operational Support: Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event support.
- Design Support: Provide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
- Design Review and Approval: Supporting operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location (colo) data center upgrades that improve availability/efficiency.
- Interface and Collaboration: Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.
- Project Management: Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Engineering Site Audits: Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
- Root Cause Analysis and Solution Development: Lead complex root cause analysis for equipment failures and develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, or 5+ years of relevant mechanical/electrical engineering experience. Cumulative 7+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering.
- Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of experience directly related to data center design and in-depth understanding of related critical equipment. Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers. Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region. Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers. Experience as resident engineer or hands-on (in the field) design consultant.
