As part of our growth, we are seeking a: Molecular Enzyme Modeling Specialist F/M
The ideal candidate will enhance our teams focused on optimizing depolymerases for Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and other polymers explored by our Innovation team. This role is integral to ambitious research projects aimed at engineering enzymes for the degradation of plastic polymers.
Your primary responsibilities will include investigating the structure/function relationships of relevant enzymes utilizing a diverse array of molecular modeling techniques. Additionally, you will develop and implement computational tools tailored to the specific requirements of enzyme discovery and optimization. Monitoring projects that incorporate Artificial Intelligence will also be part of your duties.
Based on your modeling outcomes, you will propose enzymatic engineering strategies and enzyme targets to the experimental team, collaborating closely with the molecular modeling and design group within our Enzymatic Catalysis and Molecular Engineering team. You will also oversee external modeling collaborations and report directly to the Director of Scientific Programs.
In collaboration with SFBI's Scientific Management and team, you will:
- Explore structure/function relationships of enzymes using molecular modeling and simulation techniques.
- Develop and implement computational tools and methodologies suited to enzyme discovery and optimization.
- Suggest enzyme engineering strategies and targets based on modeling results to the experimental team.
- Establish and apply Artificial Intelligence tools tailored to enzyme engineering needs.
- Analyze experimental data through molecular modeling approaches.
- Collaborate with external molecular modeling teams.
- Engage with biophysics specialists (Crystallography, NMR, etc.).
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, scientific presentations, articles, and patents based on research findings.
- Maintain a scientific and technical watch on relevant topics.
Your qualifications and expertise:
- PhD in molecular modeling, structural bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
- Strong proficiency in molecular modeling and dynamics software.
- Experience in protein structure prediction.
- Knowledge of protein-ligand interaction studies (molecular docking, etc.).
- Background in computational protein design.
- Familiarity with QM/MM techniques is advantageous.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence applications is a significant plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and propose innovative ideas.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently and adhere to deadlines.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in French is a plus.
