We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Acceptance & Independence Officer to join our team at Mazars. This is a global role that can be based out of our London or Paris office.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day activities of the Acceptance Group, reporting directly to the Director in charge.
- Work closely with GIAC members, acceptance officers, and risk managers from countries to provide an exceptional service.
- Review the acceptance group mailbox on a daily basis, responding to complex questions and escalating as needed.
- Prepare source material for training sessions and webinars, and participate in the presentation team.
- Supervise the tasks performed by the Acceptance Group administrator, ensuring they are performed to a high standard.
- Review cases submitted on the GIAC Tool, escalate to GIAC members, and manage responses and report decisions taken to countries.
- Coordinate the annual completeness audit, ensuring countries have complied with required GIAC approval procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date guidance on sanctions, including current lists of sanctioned entities.
- Be the primary source for updating acceptance content for the Global Policy Manual.
- Be the primary source for updating the Mazars' Code of Conduct for Objectivity and Independence (CCOI), liaising as necessary with the Ethics group team.
- Follow the evolution of International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) guidance, communicating to countries and updating Mazars guidance as required.
- Prepare agendas for monthly GIAC meetings and take minutes of key matters discussed and decisions taken.

- Prepare quarterly newsletters from the Acceptance Group for review.
- Ensure, on a recurring basis, that controls identified as part of the International Standard on Quality Management 1 (ISQM 1) procedures are operating effectively, liaising with internal audit and providing support for internal audit testing.
- Manage the reporting of escalations to Forvis Mazars USA in accordance with the agreed process.
- Liaise with the US desk for approval of new SEC/PCAOB audit clients.
- Update, on an annual basis, the independence declaration forms issued to countries.
- Update, on an annual basis, the acceptance questionnaire issued to countries.
- Review opportunities for automating the acceptance questionnaire.
- Train and develop junior members of the team.
- Participate in key projects launched by the Acceptance Group, including Personal Financial Interests.
- Participate, as agreed, in other projects launched by other parts of the Quality & Risk Management Board.
- University/College Graduate.
- First relevant experience (2 years) with knowledge of Acceptance & Independence issues in accounting firms.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal, and other languages will be an advantage.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentation tools.
- Ability to sort and organize data, with a desire to deal with new digital tools.
- Ability to work on multiple projects.
- Problem solver/innovation attitude.
- Flexible, with the ability to adapt to a fast-growing Group.
- Team player.
- Organized and proactive.
This is a 100% international environment, with contact with approximately 100 countries. You will have the opportunity to use your experience and talents within the technical functions at group level. You will have great variety in assignments, and the opportunity to participate in the further automation of existing Acceptance Group processes. You will also have contact with senior partners and decision makers in the Forvis Mazars Group.
