Our Research CenterArcelorMittal Maizieres Research is the world's largest research center, comprising four labs dedicated to specific areas: Product, Process, Bars & Wires, and Pilote. The Digital Technologies cluster, part of the Process Lab, focuses on developing digital and cyber-physics solutions for process control and optimization.
Your RoleAs a Research Engineer, you will contribute to the decarbonization and digitalization of our steel manufacturing process. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Developing and integrating advanced physical thermal models to monitor and optimize furnaces
- Developing and integrating online control systems
- Leading research activities in research projects and technical support to plants
- Contributing to the development and renewal of activities, including proposing new research axes and projects
We are seeking a highly skilled individual with a Master's degree or PhD in Control Engineering, Automation, Physics, or a relevant discipline. Key qualifications include:
- Solid background in control engineering, including feedback loops, PID controllers, Model Predictive Control, and optimal controls
- Computer programming skills with Matlab/Simulink, Fortran, or Python
- Solid knowledge of real-time and embedded systems
- Knowledge of heat transfer, thermal phenomena, and physics, including combustion, pyrolysis, oxidation, and physical modeling
- Measurement techniques, including instrumentation and signal processing
- Knowledge of Fluent or Comsol is a plus
- Advanced levels of English and French
- Ability to run laboratory experiments and trials in industrial plants
- Ability to work in a team
