Our Research CenterArcelorMittal Maizieres Research is the world's largest research center, comprising four labs focused on specific areas: Product, Process, Bars & Wires, and Pilote. The Digital Technologies cluster, part of the Process Lab, is where you'll be working. Our mission is to develop digital and cyber-physical solutions for process control and optimization, as well as product control.
Your RoleAs a Research Engineer, you'll be involved in activities linked to process decarbonization and digitalization (Industry 4.0). You'll contribute to two main research axes: physical thermal models and process control. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and integrating advanced physical thermal models to monitor and optimize furnaces in steel manufacturing processes
- Developing and integrating online control systems
- Leading research activities in the framework of research projects and technical support to plants
- Contributing to the development and renewal of activities, including proposing new research axes and projects
We're looking for a highly skilled individual with a Master's degree or PhD in Control Engineering, Automation, Physics, or a relevant discipline. You should have a solid background in control engineering, including feedback loops, PID controllers, Model Predictive Control, and optimal controls. Proficiency in programming languages like Matlab/Simulink, Fortran, or Python is essential. Additionally, you should have knowledge of real-time and embedded systems, heat transfer, thermal phenomena, and physics. Familiarity with Fluent or Comsol is a plus. Advanced levels of English and French are required, as well as the ability to run laboratory experiments and trials in industrial plants. You should also be able to work effectively in a team.
