Job Title: Alignment Calculation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Alignment Calculation Specialist to join our Survey and Alignment Group at the ESRF. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the precise alignment of our accelerators and beamlines, ensuring the highest level of precision and accuracy in our experiments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert assistance for all positioning and alignment issues related to the accelerators, beamlines, and the ESRF site.
  • Develop new survey and alignment techniques and instrumentation.
  • Control and periodic realignment of the accelerators and beamlines.
  • Analyze and compute data sets collected by the Survey and Alignment Group surveyors.
  • Participate in surveying campaigns.
Requirements:
  • Higher university degree in Geomatics Engineering/Surveying or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two to five years' experience in a scientific environment, specifically in the alignment of particle accelerators and related experiments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of metrology and micro-geodesy tools, skills, and techniques.
  • Proficiency with computers and associated software (MATLAB, C++, Python, R, etc.) for data processing and presentation of results.
  • Expertise in AI or ML techniques for analyzing large volumes of data, as well as experience in database implementation and management is an asset.
