Assigned Mission:

Context:

This research initiative centers on the robotic handling of pliable materials, with a specific emphasis on carbon fiber textiles utilized in production methodologies.

Description:

The objective is to devise a robotic control strategy that employs visual feedback to autonomously shape carbon fiber fabric into specified configurations.

The research approach will incorporate data-centric methodologies and visual servoing techniques for controlling deformations without necessitating intricate object modeling.

Main Activities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive literature review on the manipulation of deformable objects
  • Implement strategies for the interaction and handling of flexible materials
  • Model the deformation of objects based on manipulation techniques
  • Develop a visual tracking algorithm for deformation using RGB-D imaging
  • Create a visual servoing control mechanism for managing deformations
  • Establish experimental protocols and validate outcomes
  • Engage in seminars and contribute to scientific publications
  • Present findings in a thesis format

Skills Required:

Knowledge:

Expertise in control systems, robotics, and computer vision
- Proficient in programming languages such as C++ and Python, as well as ROS
- Experience in visual servoing and 3D perception is advantageous
