Position Overview: A leading company in the energy sector is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to enhance our design and development capabilities in power electronics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the design and development of Direct-Connected Modular Medium Voltage Converters and innovative power electronics solutions for high-power applications exceeding 1 MW.
  • Oversee the design, development, and validation of power electronic converter modules tailored for medium-voltage applications.
  • Specify essential power electronic components and conduct thorough datasheet analyses, considering factors such as lead time, availability, pricing, second sourcing, and qualification.
  • Design and maintain back-to-back test rigs to validate power converter technologies under realistic operational conditions.
  • Prepare comprehensive test specifications for back-to-back test rigs and perform laboratory testing of power converter submodules, including switching tests and thermal runs.
  • Support the development team by formulating Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test specifications.
  • Document design processes and maintain technical databases and repositories.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's or PhD is preferred.
  • Approximately 8+ years of experience in power converter design, testing, manufacturing, and addressing field issues.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Strong understanding of medium voltage design and control challenges.
  • Extensive experience in power electronics, including hardware design of inverter modules and converter systems, control design, and simulation.
  • In-depth knowledge of power electronic components such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes, capacitors, and inductive components.
  • Experience in thermal design, including loss calculations, simulations, and cooling unit specifications.
  • Familiarity with power electronics control and protection coordination studies.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements associated with high voltage and high-power electronics.
