Summary / Role Purpose
The R&D Engineer II will become part of a specialized team focused on the development of ANSYS's structural optimization solver. This team is responsible for two key products: Mechanical's structural optimization and Discovery Live's structural optimization, overseeing everything from research to the final customer release of new features. Given the compact nature of the team, the R&D Engineer II will engage in multiple phases from research to production, including research activities, prototyping, implementation, exposure, build management, and bug resolution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Engage in moderately complex development tasks, including design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Share accountability for build and certification stability.
- Conduct moderately complex bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products. Investigate issues identified by QA or product support and devise solutions.
- Grasp the marketing requirements for a product, encompassing target environment, performance criteria, and competitive considerations.
- Operate under the general supervision of a development manager.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other natural science disciplines with 2 years of experience, or a Master’s degree.
- Proven experience in technical software development through academic, research, or industry projects. Strong understanding and skills in object-oriented programming.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient knowledge of C++ programming language, parallel computing, and HPC environments.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Technical expertise and experience with Finite Element simulation (e.g., Ansys) and CAD modeling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn rapidly and collaborate effectively within a geographically distributed team.
