About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Optical Engineer II to join our team in Customer Excellence (ACE). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional technical support to customers, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.
Key Responsibilities- Apply advanced-level engineering knowledge to provide technical pre-sales support, perform professional services, and help translate customer requirements into exciting new product features.
- Take ownership of customer problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive Optics solutions.
- Provide introductory and/or intermediate training classes and contribute to the delivery of professional services for projects which may include collaborative work with other application engineers in the same or different disciplines.
- Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate these requirements into new product capabilities.
- Participate in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and create best practices, both within and outside the discipline.
- BS or MS in Optical Engineering or a related field.
- MS+2 years of professional experience in an engineering environment.
- Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers and a wide range of audiences.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency.
- Ability to work on multiple projects which are complex in nature across geographically diverse locations.
- Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed.
- Hands-on experience in using commercial optical software tools (e.g. Zemax OpticStudio, Code V, LucidShape, Speos, LightTools, Lumerical...).
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Optical Theory.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time.
- Familiarity with Python.
- MS+5 or PhD+0 years of professional experience in an engineering software environment.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer-facing roles.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate these into an execution plan that delivers value and meets business goals.
- Demonstrated skills using optical software Speos, Zemax OpticStudio, and Lumerical.
- Knowledge of some of the following fields is a plus:
- CAD programs (Catia, NX, Creo, etc.)
- Knowledge of material properties measurements.
- Automotive industry or Aeronautics and/or experience in optics or illumination systems.
