Augmented Reality Optical Systems Engineer

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Optical Design Engineer specializing in augmented reality display systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Creating and designing intricate optical systems focused on imagery and illumination.
- Formulating technical specifications derived from client requirements and establishing essential performance metrics.
- Collaborating with clients to enhance specific optical systems and conducting performance evaluations aligned with their needs.
- Developing algorithmic tools for performance assessment, optimization, and tolerancing tailored to geometric waveguide-based optical systems.
- Assisting in the prototyping and production of optical components, including drafting specifications, liaising with manufacturing partners, and overseeing integration and performance evaluation.
- Designing high-volume optical components with manufacturing considerations in mind.
- Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer of Optinvent.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in optical simulation software such as Zemax, Code V, and LightTools, along with Python for design, tolerancing, and optimization.
- Experience in both sequential and non-sequential ray tracing methodologies.
- Familiarity with microdisplays and near-eye display technologies is advantageous.
- Background in molded optical plastic components is a plus.
- Fluency in English is essential.
