Augmented Reality Optical Systems Engineer

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Optical Design Engineer to focus on the development of advanced optical systems specifically tailored for augmented reality displays. This role involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing optical performance and ensuring product excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and define intricate optical systems for both imagery and illumination purposes.
- Create detailed technical specifications based on client requirements, establishing essential performance metrics.
- Collaborate with clients to refine optical systems, conducting performance evaluations aligned with their needs.
- Develop algorithmic tools for assessing performance, optimization, and tolerancing related to geometric waveguide optical systems.
- Assist in the prototyping and manufacturing of optical components, including drafting specifications and coordinating with production partners for integration and performance assessment.
- Ensure designs are suitable for high-volume manufacturing of optical components.
- Report directly to the Chief Technology Officer of Optinvent.
Qualifications:
Profile and Experience:
- Proven expertise in optical simulation software such as Zemax, Code V, or LightTools, along with proficiency in Python for design, tolerancing, and optimization tasks.
- Experience with both sequential and non-sequential ray tracing techniques.
- Familiarity with microdisplays and near-eye display technologies is advantageous.
- Background in molded optical plastic components is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required.
