Position Title: Director of Commissioning Operations

Overview
We are in search of a seasoned and proficient Director of Commissioning Operations to spearhead the commissioning and operational initiatives on a significant nuclear undertaking. This position is crucial for guaranteeing the effective commissioning of the facility, from the design phase to the final handover, while ensuring close cooperation with the Client, design collaborators, and site management teams. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the nuclear industry, emphasizing regulatory adherence and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership in Commissioning
- Direct and oversee the commissioning process throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and safety protocols.
- Formulate and execute commissioning strategies, plans, and schedules in partnership with the Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC Lead and other project participants.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
- Engage closely with the Client, design collaborators, and site management to ensure the seamless integration of commissioning tasks.
- Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure alignment with project goals.
Compliance with Regulations
- Coordinate with relevant regulatory agencies to ensure all commissioning activities meet nuclear safety regulations and standards.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports to regulatory authorities, ensuring timely approvals and compliance.
Project Management
- Supervise the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with commissioning, developing contingency plans as necessary.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary commissioning team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring they have the resources and training necessary to perform their roles effectively.
Operational Transition
- Ensure a smooth transition from commissioning to operations, including the development of operational procedures and training for site management.
- Collaborate with site management to ensure they are fully prepared to take over the facility upon project completion.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancements in commissioning and operations.
- Stay updated with advancements in nuclear commissioning best practices and industry standards.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all commissioning activities, including test results, certifications, and regulatory submissions.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Nuclear Science, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer (CEng), Project Management Professional (PMP)) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in commissioning within the nuclear sector, with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects.
