Job Summary
The Global MSL Excellence Director is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and implementing strategies to strengthen Medical Science Liaison (MSL) capabilities across the globe. This position is accountable for defining, scoping, and establishing standards for MSL operations, as well as supporting alignment of MSL teams and establishing standards for the MSL role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to strengthen MSL capabilities across the globe, ensuring alignment with company priorities and goals.
- Define and implement a dedicated onboarding and continuous development MSL program (MSL Academy) to ensure excellence in onboarding and improve MSL/MSL manager performance and impact.
- Collaborate with affiliates to ensure development of MSLs/MSL Managers and provide strategic guidance and insights regarding the diverse needs of Field Medical worldwide.
- Identify and implement MSL standards and best practices, establish a dashboard to monitor MSL performance, and maintain a set of global standards for MSL operations.
- Animate the MSL community, ensure robust insight generation, capture, and sharing across the organization, and develop actions for career and skills development.
Reporting Relationship
The Global MSL Excellence Director reports to the head of International Medical Operations within the Global Medical and Patient Affairs (GMPA) department.
Education, Experience, and Preferred Skills
- Doctoral degree in medicine or life science-related discipline (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD).
- Significant experience (more than 10 years) in a global medical affairs organization.
- MSL or MSL manager experience.
- International experience with an understanding of different cultures and ways of working.
- Collaborative mindset, ability to think strategically, and understand needs from various sectors, zones, and affiliates.
- Ability to lead the creation and implementation of strategic plans aligned with the company's overall strategy.
- Proven ability to work successfully in a complex, global, matrix organization.
- Highly developed consultative skills, results-driven, customer service orientation, and clear understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements impacting MSL organizations.
- Ability to travel internationally.
