Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our Partner Solutions Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Development engineers, managing direct reports' workload and project assignments, and participating in company-wide staffing ceremonies.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Grow and lead a team of Development engineers through hiring, feedback, and hands-on career development. Encourage and value a healthy, collaborative engineering culture focused on delivering business value.
- Project Management: Manage direct reports' workload and project assignments, and participate in company-wide staffing ceremonies. Support agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with other engineering managers and product managers to better grasp the context of requirements coming your way, shape the solutions, and translate product requirements into actionable projects.
- Technical Vision: Manage team productivity by driving the technical vision of the core platform that all our use-cases depend on.
- Strategic Decision-Making: Participate in roadmap definition and delivery and company strategic decisions.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise: You must be a technical manager who can understand the technical details of a project. You have at least one experience as a manager or a team lead, preferably for a development engineering team.
- Leadership Skills: You can challenge and grow your team members: you can challenge technical designs and project milestones, encourage experimentation, and uphold quality expectations.
- Communication Skills: You can build and present a strong vision/roadmap for your team. You have had success as an engineer and are comfortable delivering projects even when requirements are under-specified.
- Business Acumen: You have the ability to work with multiple parts of the business and multiple stakeholders.
- Passion for Technology: Demonstrable passion for technology by continually making suggestions around how to make us better.
- Language Skills: Level of written/verbal English (documentation, team presentations, meetings).
Preferred Skills
- Web Development: Knowledge of Web development, Web architecture, JSON/RPC, REST API.
- Collaborative Software Engineering: Experience with collaborative software engineering techniques and methods.
- Microservices Architecture: Knowledge in microservices architecture.
- Frontend Development: Experience with modern frontend development (React/Preact or similar frameworks).
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated interest in problem-solving and technical innovation.
