Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of existing literature on your topic and propose enhancements tailored to our needs.
  • Develop and implement new models, assessing their effectiveness using our dataset.
  • Transition your ideas from concept to production, monitoring their impact on clients.
  • Share your findings with the broader community through research publications and presentations at technical events.

We have a variety of research topics spanning multiple areas of Machine Learning.

Internship Focus:

This internship emphasizes training a large language model (LLM) on legal data and creating a legal instruction-based dataset. It is ideal for individuals passionate about natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and the legal sector. You will play a vital role in our research team, contributing to the development of advanced AI models that enhance the legal industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Dataset Development:
    • Collaborate with the team to identify and compile available open-source legal datasets.
    • Create a diverse dataset encompassing various legal domains, including contracts, case law, statutes, and regulations.
    • Apply data preprocessing techniques to ensure data quality and consistency.
    • Develop a legal instruction-based dataset by extracting essential legal queries from the gathered data, which will be used for fine-tuning the language model.
  2. Model Evaluation:
    • Research state-of-the-art large language models (LLMs) that excel in processing legal text.
    • Assess various pre-trained models on benchmark legal NLP tasks to determine their applicability.
  3. Model Fine-tuning:
    • Adapt the selected LLM using the legal instruction-based dataset to enhance its understanding and generation of legal text.
    • Implement strategies to mitigate biases and address ethical considerations during the fine-tuning process.
  4. Performance Assessment:
    • Establish evaluation metrics to measure the performance of the fine-tuned model.
    • Conduct thorough testing to validate the model's effectiveness in legal text comprehension and related tasks.
    • Refine the fine-tuning process by adjusting hyper-parameters and architectural choices to optimize performance.

Candidate Profile:

· Currently enrolled in a major engineering program or equivalent master's degree.

· Possess advanced technical skills in Applied Mathematics (Machine Learning / Optimization).

· Proficient in Python with the ability to write high-quality code.

· Familiarity with Deep Learning frameworks (preferably PyTorch and Transformers).

· Previous experience in Machine Learning (through personal projects, academic work, or internships).

· Knowledge of Natural Language Processing is a significant advantage.

· Enjoy reading research papers and implementing cutting-edge models, as well as sharing insights with team members.

· Passionate about writing scientific papers or blog posts and contributing to the community.
