Job Title

Senior Service Reliability Engineer

In this role, you will focus on cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to ensure the reliability, security, and strategic growth of our services, alongside the delivery of product features.

As a key player in Amadeus Hospitality, the Media division's primary goal is to enhance demand and increase market share for our clients by promoting their offerings across various platforms and channels (including web searches, social media, GDS, and mobile). Our clientele includes hotels seeking to attract more guests, cities or regions aiming to draw in more visitors, and airlines striving to engage more travelers.

Over the years, Amadeus has developed a leading data-driven travel advertising platform, supported by strategic partnerships with major advertising firms (such as Google, Facebook, and Microsoft), enabling us to reach billions of travelers worldwide daily. The Media division is rapidly expanding, with ambitions to achieve a billion in revenue in the near future. Our dedicated teams are essential to realizing this vision, and we invite you to contribute to this exciting journey.

Unlike many media agencies that depend solely on third-party software for advertising campaigns, Amadeus has crafted its own acclaimed advertising platform, tailored to handle unique use cases and facilitate a more targeted approach. This platform is built on a microservices architecture, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as Golang, Scala, Python, gRPC, GraphQL, Kafka, Apache Airflow, Apache Beam, Aerospike, Redis, PostgreSQL. It processes 160k transactions per second, leveraging a PB-size Google BigQuery hosted data warehouse, an innovative AI capable of executing up to 250k predictions per second, and is hosted on GCP (Google Cloud Platform). Our machine learning models are developed using Python, Tensorflow, Keras, LightGBM, and more.

Our infrastructure adheres to the latest industry standards (Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, FluxCD, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, GCP [Google Cloud Platform], GKE [Google Kubernetes Engine], Thanos, Prometheus, Grafana, Apache Airflow / Google Cloud Composer, Apache Beam / Google Cloud Dataflow, Google BigQuery, Aerospike, Redis, PostgreSQL, Google BigTable, ...) and is constructed with a GitOps approach. The SRE team is responsible for our CI/CD pipelines, collaborating closely with development teams.

The next phase in the evolution of our platform involves expanding our geographical reach by deploying our stack to additional continents and gradually integrating parts of the Hospitality advertising business into this platform.

As a Senior Service Reliability Engineer, your contributions will be crucial in driving future transformations, ensuring the stability and security of the platform.

The responsibilities of the SRE team include:

  • Continuous evolution of the infrastructure and implementation of new standards
  • Supporting projects aimed at geographical expansion
  • Monitoring and maintaining the infrastructure
  • Providing support and mentorship to R&D teams
  • Ensuring platform stability
  • Guaranteeing platform security
  • Maintaining and evolving CI/CD processes

In this position, you will:

  • Maintain and enhance our production and staging infrastructure.
  • Manage the complete application stack on Google Cloud.
  • Engage in analyzing new requirements and developing core services to support and enhance our IT teams' productivity.
  • Leverage SRE expertise to evaluate and operationalize new services and data processing solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise across the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of multi-year roadmaps for infrastructure evolution and process industrialization.
  • Focus on creating systems automation and provisioning frameworks to enhance delivery teams' autonomy and ownership.
  • Mentor, support, and coach IT team members on tools, concepts, and cloud best practices while effectively communicating with team members, peers, and management.

About the ideal candidate:

  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Demonstrates strong analytical thinking abilities.
  • Possesses robust troubleshooting skills, as we often serve as the final line of support for infrastructure issues.
  • Has hands-on experience with Kubernetes (or OpenShift) and a solid understanding of Kubernetes concepts and the ecosystem.
  • Has prior experience with one of the major cloud providers: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Is familiar with the Prometheus-based monitoring stack (PromQL, Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana).
  • Has knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools, ideally CircleCI and GitHub Actions.
  • Can code in at least one programming language (general-purpose or scripting), preferably Go, Bash, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with Terraform (best practices, code organization) is a strong advantage.
  • Some familiarity with Helm is also beneficial.
  • Knowledge of managing SQL and key-value store databases is a plus.
