Role Overview: The role of the Regulatory Compliance Engineer encompasses a variety of responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle:

  • Project Procedures: Develop, uphold, and execute project protocols related to regulatory compliance.
  • Reporting: Provide comprehensive updates to project management and clients.
  • Regulatory Review: Analyze national regulations and communicate their implications for each project phase.
  • Documentation: Ensure that all regulatory compliance documentation is thorough and accessible.
  • Permitting Register: Create and maintain a register for permits.
  • CE Marking Strategy: Formulate and implement a CE marking strategy, coordinating with projects on applicable European Directives such as PED, ATEX, Machinery Directive, EMC, and LV. Adapt workflows and communicate requirements to vendors and subcontractors, and manage contracts with Notified Bodies.
  • Third-Party Contracts: Establish and manage contracts with third-party organizations for Classification, Flag, and Verification, ensuring timely and quality exchanges. Cascade requirements to vendors/subcontractors as necessary and ensure timely receipt of final certifications.
  • Performance Standards: Assist projects in coordinating Performance Standards.

Key Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas or renewable energy sectors, including at least 3 years working with third-party organizations and national authorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of EU directives, CE marking, and their application in industrial projects, with experience across multiple projects.
  • Strong understanding of the roles and limitations of regulatory bodies, including national authorities, Classification Societies, Flag Administrations, Independent Verification Bodies, and Notified Bodies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards enforced by regulatory bodies and third parties, including European Directives and Classification rules.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration across various functions, both internally (procurement, engineering, inspection, construction, commissioning) and externally (third parties, clients, subcontractors, suppliers).
  • Creative and open-minded with exceptional communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and French.
