Job Summary:
The Capital Project Specialist (Facilities Project Manager) plays a crucial role in identifying and addressing campus maintenance needs, working closely with college administration to ensure timely and effective resolution. This position is responsible for scoping, planning, and executing minor and moderate capital projects, collaborating with colleges, state and local agencies, and private-sector consultants to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with college personnel to determine maintenance needs, assist with funding requirements, and prioritize projects based on urgency and available funding.
- Assist colleges in initiating work and monitoring approved projects through completion, performing audits to verify work was performed according to required procedures.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, assist in developing scope of work for small projects, and maintain up-to-date project information on college buildings and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Capital Project Managers on moderate to major capital projects, providing programming information gathering during design and performing construction observation duties.
- Represent Facilities Support Services at pre-bid conferences and pre-proposal conferences to ensure compliance with bid and proposal procurement protocols.
- Assist the BAS Manager in monitoring and administering the Mechanical Maintenance Contract, verifying compliance as needed.
- Meet with college representatives to discuss project design phases, bidding, or construction activity, relaying significant concerns to the Capital Project Manager or Director of Design and Construction for review and resolutions.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Business, or related field, and four years of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Architecture or Engineering will substitute for three years of experience, Bachelor of Construction Management or Construction Technology will substitute for two years of experience, Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) will substitute for one year of experience.
- Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Six years of engineering and/or construction-related experience will substitute for the required bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Business, or related field, and six years of relevant experience or equivalent.
