Role Overview

As we expand our operations with the rollout of our first BioFactory and the industrialization of our BioPods, we are seeking a seasoned and proactive Head of Hardware Engineering to steer our engineering division. The ideal candidate will possess a robust history of managing intricate product development, leading a diverse engineering team, fostering innovation, and delivering high-caliber products within established timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Guide the engineering team in alignment with Interstellar Lab's mission.
  2. Formulate and communicate the engineering vision and strategy in line with corporate objectives.
  3. Develop and maintain a technology roadmap to ensure competitive and innovative standing.
  4. Manage the engineering budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  5. Drive the innovation and development of controlled environment biofarming systems.
  6. Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  7. Work closely with executive leadership and across departments.
  8. Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to market.
  9. Ensure timely execution and delivery of engineering projects while adhering to budget and quality standards.
  10. Implement and refine engineering processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  11. Establish robust testing, validation, and quality assurance protocols.
  12. Lead research and development initiatives to explore new technologies that provide a competitive advantage.
  13. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
  14. Implement security measures to safeguard company data and intellectual property.
  15. Identify and mitigate technical risks in product development.
  16. Serve as the primary contact for engineering-related inquiries.
  17. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact on the organization.
Qualifications
  1. Master's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in complex product engineering within the aerospace or automotive sectors.
  3. At least 5 years in a leadership role.
  4. Demonstrated success in leading engineering teams.
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  7. Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
  8. Proficiency in project management and execution.
