Position Overview: Senior Analyst focusing on Medium Term Oil
Team Dynamics: You will be part of a distinctive, high-achieving, and diverse group that delivers essential data and analytical insights to the market. This role is situated within the AltView team, which is part of the Oil Markets, Midstream and Downstream (OMD) sector under Fuels, Chemicals, and Resource Solutions (FCRS) at S&P Global Commodity Insights. AltView represents an alternative forecasting perspective developed by a specialized team of professionals, utilizing its own models, methodologies, and insights, distinct from the S&P Global primary view. All OMD team members (both house and AltView) actively engage in areas such as global oil demand, production, refining, trade flows, petrochemical feedstock, chemicals, shipping, agrobusiness, gas, power, energy transition, and integrated analysis.

This role carries substantial responsibilities in analyzing and predicting the trends of oil markets, with a particular emphasis on supply and demand dynamics over a medium-term (five-year) horizon. Additionally, you will engage in business development and client retention efforts as needed.

- Conduct research, modeling, analysis, and forecasting on global oil markets for the medium-term (five-year) outlook.
- Produce a consistent Medium Term outlook.
- Contribute to and present AltView Storyboards, Posts, and other reports.
- Collaborate closely with other members of Commodity Insights and S&P Global.
- Engage with clients to address inquiries and present oil market forecasts.
- Additionally, you will provide input on OMD initiatives.
- A proactive individual who is ready to challenge conventional thinking and drive performance.
- A leader skilled in conflict resolution, maintaining focus under pressure, and demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.
- A candidate with the ability to think creatively, possessing strong initiative and problem-solving capabilities, along with leadership qualities that foster team development.
- BA/BS or MA degree in economics, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
- At least six years of relevant experience for BA holders (four years for MA holders) in oil demand analysis, macroeconomic/energy demand research, oil refining, consulting in the oil industry, investment banking, equity research, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential for effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate processes and implement improvements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other database tools, with expertise in data mining and visualization.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to the diverse needs of the group.
- Capable of thriving under tight deadlines and in a dynamic team setting.
- A solid background in economics, energy, engineering, and refining.
- Experience in analyzing global oil markets.
- Familiarity with economics/econometrics/refining modeling (LPs).
- Knowledge of modeling and programming languages.
