Key Responsibilities
As a Telecom Engineering Team Manager at Transatel, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in charge of managing the components of our network.
The team is responsible for ensuring the perfect alignment of network components with our business needs, including capacity, high availability, features, support, and relationships with suppliers.
The team manages various network components, including those provided by third-party suppliers (core SS7/Diameter, HSS, IMS) and those developed in-house (SMS-C, GMSC, ISBC, and SIP AS, IWF).
This allows Transatel to be highly innovative, flexible, and cost-effective while maintaining autonomy.
The team is responsible for defining its needs correctly to ensure the best choice between 'make' and 'buy' or a combination of both, making this role unique compared to other operators.
The team plays a critical role in delivering projects through its expertise and ability to ensure network quality and alignment with evolving business needs and new service creation.
The team is also responsible for conducting studies in its domain and managing projects related to the lifecycle of network components.
You will be responsible for animating, structuring, and motivating the team while maintaining their efficiency, sharing, and technical excellence.
You will ensure good communication within the team and with other teams.
You will require expressions of need/HLD at the correct level of detail and ensure that the documentation provided by the team to its stakeholders is of high quality.
You will establish a workload plan and ensure timely delivery and quality of deliverables.
You will manage priorities to meet non-anticipated imperatives, communicate any delays, and develop mitigation plans.
You will follow up daily on team members' progress, proposing and implementing the best methods and ensuring they receive the necessary support from other teams (Architects, development teams for internal developments).
You will also manage escalations with suppliers when necessary.
You will assist the team in improving its processes and tools if needed.
You will mentor team members if necessary to help them in their tasks and progress.
Finally, your excellent communication skills will enable you to detect and manage potential tensions that may arise.
Requirements
You must have a degree in Telecommunications or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
Experience working for a telecom operator (MVNE or MNO Tier 2) would be a significant advantage.
You must have a flawless mastery of telecommunications (network engineering and architecture for GSM, 3G, 4G, and 5G) and a good knowledge of suppliers.
You must be able to organize a team in a context of project competition with many dependencies.
The team operates in a rich technical environment, and you must be able to quickly master several technologies to challenge your team.
Fluent English is required for this position.
